Institutional Text Alert System(s)
Each institution has an alert system that provides for quick communication with all students regarding class cancellations (due to inclement weather); and, other situations that may arise that threaten the safety and security of their campuses and enrolled students. Additionally, in today's times, it is imperative that you know how to respond to Active Shooter situations in and at all public places (colleges and universities, movie theaters, malls, football games, parks, etc). To learn how to respond when faced with such events, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security provides an excellent Active Shooter Guide that can be downloaded and reviewed on your own time. Each institution includes the Erma Byrd Higher Education Center in all emergency notifications. As a result, it is imperative that you sign-up by clicking on the following link of the institution at which you are enrolled to receive notifications:

Erma Byrd Higher Education Center Alert System
The Erma Byrd Higher Education Center has a Voice Shot Alert System for fast communication with residential students, faculty, staff and visitors during times of emergency. Please note that this system only applies to the Erma Byrd Center; thus, subscription to college/university alert systems will still be a vital necessity. This alert system can be subscribed to by completing the following steps:
- Call 1-800-291-2065 from the telephone or mobile phone on which you wish to receive Voice Shot Alerts.
- Enter the following PIN Number: 22949452
- Confirm your added number with the system.
